About CaliPeaks
CaliPeaks is a structured guide to backpacking in California. Every trip page carries the same set of hard numbers — distance, net and total elevation gain, trailhead elevation, permit requirements, campfire rules, and best seasons — so you can sort, filter, and compare routes the way you'd compare products, not stories.
Facts on this site come from public agency sources: the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and California State Parks, plus reference datasets and route files from the hiking community. Every trip page lists its citations. Descriptions are written by our editors — never copied from other sites.
Backcountry conditions change. Permits, fire restrictions, and closures are updated constantly by land managers. Treat CaliPeaks as a starting point, not the last word: always confirm current conditions with the managing agency before your trip.
