Sourcing
Every fact on CaliPeaks — distances, elevation figures, permit rules, campfire regulations, seasons — comes from a public-agency or documented reference source: the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, California State Parks, and recreation permitting systems. Each trip page lists every source with its URL and the date we accessed it. Route statistics are computed from GPX track files when available; the track source and license are shown on the trip page.
Original writing
All descriptive text on CaliPeaks is written by our editorial team. We do not copy descriptions from other websites, and we do not publish AI-generated prose without human review. Facts are never paraphrased into new claims: if a number appears on this site, it traces to a cited source.
Updates and accuracy
Backcountry conditions change constantly — permits, quotas, fire restrictions, and closures are adjusted by land managers throughout the season. We date our citations and re-verify pages when agencies change rules. Nothing on CaliPeaks replaces the managing agency's current guidance: always confirm conditions with the land manager before your trip.
Corrections
Found an error? Email [email protected] with the page and the correct source. Verified corrections are applied promptly and citations are updated to reflect the corrected sourcing.
Conflict of interest
CaliPeaks does not accept payment for trip listings, rankings, or placement. The difficulty score is computed from route statistics, not editorial preference. If we ever add commercial partnerships, they will be disclosed on this page.
